I'm a surfer from Australia, and the idea of catching world-class waves in Portugal has been on my mind for years. I finally decided to go for it and move to Ericeira. The visa process, though... not as fun as surfing, let's put it that way. I started doing it on my own and got totally lost in forms and legalese. That's when I reached out to Roots, and man, am I glad I did. My case manager was chill but super on top of things, he sorted out my D7 visa application while I chased the swells. I'll admit, I was pretty laid-back (maybe too laid-back) about getting him documents, but he kept me on track with friendly reminders. 10 / 10 experience. Thanks to Monica and Sara. We're a UK couple with no kids who decided to slow down life and move to rural Portugal on the D7. At first, it was just a Pinterest dream, then I started reading about police checks, apostilles, proof of accommodation, and my brain basically shut down. We almost signed a short term lease that wouldn't have been considered valid proof at our consulate. They caught that in time and helped us making sure the contract mentioned the right details. They also walked us through the madness of shipping original documents around for apostilles without losing anything. On consulate day, I was shaking, but the officer actually complimented how "complete" our file looked. The approval didn't come fast, but RG kept checking in so we didn't spiral every time a week passed with no update. If we'd tried to wing this ourselves, we might still be stuck in Birmingham arguing with printers.
