Applicants must either purchase a property in Malta with a minimum value of €375,000 or rent a property with a minimum annual lease of €14,000, depending on location. The property must be maintained for a minimum of 5 years as part of the residency commitment.
A mandatory non-refundable contribution to the Maltese government of €97,000 whether you are purchasing or renting a property. This payment supports Malta’s economic development and is a central component of the residency programme.
Applicants must show the lawful origin of their funds through documents such as bank statements, tax returns, or property sale contracts. They must also prove a net worth of at least €500,000, including €150,000 in liquid assets, in line with Malta’s anti–money laundering rules.
Applicants must make a €2,000 charitable donation to a Maltese-registered non-governmental organisation (NGO). The chosen NGO must be approved by the authorities, often focused on cultural, scientific, artistic, sport, philanthropic, or animal welfare initiatives.
Applicants must hold comprehensive health insurance covering all medical risks in Malta. The policy must remain valid throughout residency to ensure applicants and dependents are not reliant on the public healthcare system.
A clean criminal record is required from the applicant’s country of residence and any country lived in over the past 10 years. Certificates must be issued within the last six months, legalised/apostilled, and translated into English if necessary.
